Welcome ALL to Freetown Elementary School

Welcome back to all of our Freetown Elementary School Foxes. The Freetown Elementary School hopes that all families and friends of FES had a splendid summer. Yesterday, September 2nd we welcomed back our Freetown Foxes in first, second, and third grade respectively.  Then, today, Thursday, September 3rd marked the day in which Preschool and Kindergarten scholars came to FES for their Orientations.  We are excited to meet all our new friends and welcome them to FES.   Our preschool and kindergarten foxes will officially begin on Tuesday, September 8th.  We cannot wait!

As always our main priorities at FES and across the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District is for our students to be safe, to be engaged in their learning, and to have fun learning. Our hope and dream is that each student and their families have an exciting and memorable year.

By the end of next week FES will have participated in an expectations assembly to learn about the 3 CORE Values of Freetown Elementary School. The 3 CORE Values being respectful, responsible, and safe. Students also learned and/or reviewed the expectations at recess and lunch. Additionally, the students are getting to know each other and their new teacher. They are adjusting well to the school routine such as transitioning in the hall, how to engage in the classroom, and much more. All in all the week was joyous and filled with many happy faces. Job well done by all Freetown Foxes!

Celebrating Student Birthdays

New this year...During morning announcements FES will be celebrating student birthdays.  So if your child has a birthday on a school day, during morning announcements we will say Happy Birthday.  Don't worry if your child's birthday falls on a weekend we will recognize on either the Friday before or the Monday after.  One step further, if your child has a summer birthday we will recognize at the end of the year assembly.  When they are recognized they will hear their name called and they will come to the office to receive a book and pencil donated by the generous FES PTO.  You will see Elyse celebrated her birthday on the first day of school.  Happy Birthday to Elyse.

  • Gentle reminder to parents/guardians: If there is a change in your child’s pick-up routine please send in a note, in writing, to your child’s classroom teacher. That note will be sent to the office. Please refrain from sending an email to the office. At times, emails are not delivered, the email may not get opened in a timely manner, or the person receiving the email may be out of work for the day. Freetown Elementary is aware that emergency situations do take place and with that please call the main office directly and we will be able to assist you.

YES, we are still collecting the Summer Reading Challenge packet late. So if you complete it over the weekend send it in. Your child will still receive a prize.

Flat Fox Summer Adventures

Prior to school letting out the FES PTO generated this absolutely fun and exciting idea called the Flat Fox's Summer Adventure!  Students and their families set out on some summer fun and brought along Flat Fox.  At the expectation assembly that will take place next week Mr. Ward will be sharing the many adventures that took place.  The Flat Fox Mission was to spend the summer exploring with students and to bring the FES positivity wherever they went together.  Mission Accomplished!   See some of the places that Flat Fox visited this summer.

Attendance Matters

Each week parents/guardians/caregivers will be given the average daily attendance percentage for Freetown Elementary School. Our goal is that each day 94% of our student population attends school daily. We have been very successful the past couple of years reaching our goal. Please remember if your child is going to be absent for any reason please call Nurse Allie (508.763-5121 Ext. 5400) to make her aware of the absence.

Attendance data for the first few days of school:
Wednesday, September 2: 99% of students attended school.
Thursday, September 3: 99% of students attended school.
Friday, September 4: Pending!

Let's keep the momentum going into Friday and into next week.
